Dear John:
The Village of Taos Ski Valley has implemented the use of Rhino HDPE manhole products and will specify use for upcoming wastewater collection projects for both private and public projects. Upon installation of the Village's first test project in 2004, it became immediately apparent that the Rhino product would have numerous advantages over any pre-cast concrete product.
In any application of manhole installations, the ability for wastewater to flow thru the manhole unobstructed is very important with respect to potential blockage and possible overflow. The flexibility of inlets as per design considerations into the preformed inverts have distinct advantages compared with concrete products. The resistance to corrosion is another great advantage to the long term service life of the manholes as they will not be the need for rehabilitation in the future. As with all installations, infiltration is a problem due to capacity considerations and is virtually eliminated with the Rhino product. Finally, the ease of installation is a great cost and safety advantage over conventional products.
The Village has received positive feedback not only from Public Works employees, but also from contractors and engineers. I would not hesitate to recommend Rhino Products for any wastewater application and have found that they are cost effective especially over the life of the system.
